This course will cover the basics of personal and business finances for the dentist. We will begin with the importance of saving money and living below your means, both at the office and at home. Second, we will cover the critical needs for safety nets in the dentist's financial plan. The corporate retirement plan will be discussed at length as a means of accumulation of large sums of money which is creditor proof. Estate planning, including life insurance trusts, wills and revocable trusts will be reviewed to provide an overview of the key documents to be included in every dentist's tool box. Finally, a basic investment strategy based on pure academic studies will be presented.
