Vaccine Update – Oct. 20

Given the varying nature of the arrival of the H1N1 vaccine in localities around the state, constant communication with your local health department and/or private physician remains the best method to determine when the vaccine will be available for dentists in your area.

Information about vaccine availability in public health facilities is available in an interactive map identifying sponsoring local H1N1 vaccine clinics (link to http://www.myflusafety.com/myfluclinic.htm). Contact your local county health department (link to http://www.doh.state.fl.us/chdsitelist.htm) for more information in your area.

The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and the Florida Department of Health recommend that anyone within the following priority groups get vaccinated:

Priority groups should be given the vaccine even if they believe they have already contracted H1N1. Unless a person has had a state laboratory confirmed case of H1N1, it can not be certain they have contracted H1N1.

The FDA continues to communicate with the Florida Department of Health regarding the vaccine's distribution. Check back on this Web site for updates as they occur.
