CRITERIA FOR MEMBERSHIP IN THE FLORIDA DENTAL ASSOCIATION
MEMBERSHIP CATEGORIES
- Voting Members
- Active Members
- Ethical dentists; living in Florida; legally licensed or possessing a work permit or dentists licensed in other states who are not engaged in private practice, but employed in Florida in an administrative capacity
- Dual Members
Dentists who want to maintain continuous active FDA membership and belong to another state association
- Privileged Members
Dentists retired from active practice or no longer able to practice dentistry
- Life Members
Dentists who are 65 years of age and meet one of the following:
- Active ADA and FDA member for 35 years, actively practicing dentistry
- Active ADA and FDA member for 35 years, retired from dental practice
- Active ADA member in another state, commonwealth, or U.S. government service for 25 years and active FDA member for 10 consecutive years
- Foreign-trained dentist who belonged to his or her country's dental association for 25 years and an active FDA member for 10 consecutive years
- Past FDA Presidents
- Non-voting Members
- Applicant Members
Graduates of schools of dentistry; living in Florida who are legally licensed or possess work permits and have not applied for membership within the past 24 months
- Associate Members
Members in good standing with the ADA who live in Florida but cannot be licensed or working with a permit
- Student Members
Fully matriculated students in full-time undergraduate, graduate or postgraduate ADA accredited programs
- Honorary Members
Individuals who have made valuable contributions to dental/medical science, art or literature, or someone who has rendered conspicuous service to dentistry.
