GOVERNMENTAL AFFAIRS OFFICE
The Governmental Affairs Office (GAO) is the legislative department of the FDA that works closely with the Governmental Action Committee, chaired by the current FDA president. The GAO staff consists of three lobbyists and a secretary. In additional to normal day-to-day activities, the GAO lobbyists are responsible for:
- Coordinating the FDA’s state legislative activities;
- Monitoring issues and bills that affect dentistry; and
- Serving as a liaison to state agencies that regulate or impact dentistry, including the Board of Dentistry
The GAO staff continually advocates for FDA members to become involved at the grassroots level. Additionally, the GAO coordinates FLADPAC activities and the Legislative Contact Dentist (LCD) Program.
