ACCESS TO CARE PROGRAMS - GKAS REGISTRATION FORM

The Florida Dental Association sponsors statewide public-outreach programs that highlight the importance of good dental health for people of all ages. The FDA's mission is to advance public health through professional education, public advocacy, high practice standards and improving the professional practice environment.

The FDA sponsors Project: Dentists Care (PDC), a dental access-to-care program consisting of volunteer dental professionals who provide pro-bono or reduced fee services to children and adults who do not qualify for public assistance, but who have a substantial unmet need for dental care. Give Kids a Smile, a dental-care access day aimed at enhancing the oral health of thousands of needy children, is the signature dental charity program of the PDC.

With funding from the Florida Dental Health Foundation, the FDA also supports Save That Smile, an educational program designed to promote the use of mouthguards in all contact sports.

Give Kids a Smile
In February, many Florida dentists observe Children's Dental Health Month by coordinating individual Give Kids a Smile (GKAS) events. To prepare for and register your upcoming GKAS event, click here. A complete list of upcoming GKAS Florida events is published here.

Outreach - Access to Dental Care Efforts

GKAS is the signature dental-charity program of the PDC. GKAS volunteers provide free dental care and education to children throughout the state who would not otherwise be able to afford it. For more information about the program, our GKAS Coordinators Guide is available here.

PDC's main objective is to build networks of volunteer dentists throughout Florida to increase access-to-care for financially needy and uninsured people in Florida.

For information on getting involved in PDC or GKAS, please leave a message at (800) 877-9922, Ext. 7180, and you will receive a call back, or email pdc@floridadental.org.
