WELCOME TO THE FLORIDA DENTAL ASSOCIATION

The FDA is a statewide, professional membership organization representing Florida-licensed dentists. FDA members are committed to protecting the health and well-being of people of all ages. The FDA was established in 1884 to ensure that patients received the highest quality of care from dental professionals. With a statewide membership of over 7,000 Florida-licensed dentists, the FDA represents about 75 percent of all licensed dentists in Florida.

A constituent society of the American Dental Association, the FDA's mission is to advance public health through professional education, public advocacy, high practice standards and improving the professional practice environment.

The FDA employs a staff of 58 professionals in 3 Tallahassee offices, including the downtown governmental affairs office. Serving as the voice of Florida-licensed dentists in the Legislature, the FDA maintains a clear and consistent message that dentistry is health care that works.

The FDA sponsors statewide public-outreach programs that highlight the importance of good dental health for Floridians, including Children's Dental Health Month (February); Give Kids a Smile; and MouthWise, an educational program for elementary and middle-school students..

The FDA also promotes dental-care access programs such as Project: Dentists Care (PDC). PDC is an FDA charitable organization comprised of a network of dentists throughout Florida that provides dental care to patients who otherwise could not afford it. PDC is part of the Florida Department of Health's Volunteer Health Care Provider Program. If you have questions about the organization, or this website, please contact us at fda@floridadental.org.
