This department administers programs and serves as support for Dental Benefits, Health and Access to Care issues.

With respect to dental care, it manages the statewide marketing campaign. It also coordinates the ADA Contract Analysis Program and undertakes dental-benefit plan research and development. It also conducts access-to-care research and development and carefully monitors state and federal programs and initiatives to improve access to dental care, e.g., Medicaid. Given its role in the dental care and health arena, the department provides staff support to the Council on Dental Care and Health and the Project: Dentists Care Board.
