FDA Provides “Red Flags Rule” Compliance Guide for Members

Due to encouragement by the American Dental Association, the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) has issued another 90-day delay in the enforcement of its “red flags rule,” which would have gone into effect Aug. 1. Compliance now must be met by Nov. 1. Are you ready? These laws and rules pertain to identity theft. If your office offers credit of any kind, you need this information to comply.

Florida Dental Association (FDA) members have access to the ADA's new copyrighted online kit to use when complying with the FTC’s “red flags rule”. FDA members also have access to information about the State of Florida's requirements of dentists concerning patient identity theft. These items can be accessed here (please have your FDA log-in information ready). The private sector is reportedly billing more than $1,000 to provide the same information.
