WELCOME TO THE FLORIDA DENTAL ASSOCIATION

The FDA is a statewide, professional membership organization representing Florida-licensed dentists. FDA members are committed to protecting the health and well-being of people of all ages. The FDA was established in 1884 to ensure that patients received the highest quality of care from dental professionals. With a statewide membership of over 7,000 Florida-licensed dentists, the FDA represents about 70 percent of all licensed dentists in Florida.

A constituent society of the American Dental Association, the FDA's mission is to improve the oral health of Florida residents, promote ethical practice standards and direct the evolution of the practice environment through continuous education and advocacy for the profession and the public.

The FDA employs a staff of 60 professionals in three Tallahassee offices, including the downtown governmental affairs office. Serving as the voice of Florida-licensed dentists in the Legislature, the FDA maintains a clear and consistent message that dentistry is the gateway to good health.

The FDA also sponsors statewide public-outreach programs that highlight the importance of good dental health. In February, during National Children’s Dental Health Month, Florida dentists participate in Give Kids A Smile — a program that provides free dental care to underserved children. Mouth Wise, an educational program designed to promote good dental health for elementary and middle school students, is distributed free of charge to Florida schools.

The FDA promotes dental-care access programs such as Project: Dentists Care., an FDA charitable organization. The PDC misson is t o substantially increase access to dental care for historically underserved populations in Florida by developing a network of volunteers.
